3rd Quarter - 2009
The goal of any technical solution, as applied to the educational environment, is to deliver a solution that provides daily usage but also provides a mechanism for district employees, teachers, staff and external stakeholders to take advantage of training long after delivery.
With “The Academy” e-Learning site, our team provides our clients with the means to deliver our unique and proven training portfolio to your internal and external stakeholders 24/7. The Academy site will provide you the capability to track all users, their time in courses, their grade post testing and deliver certificates of completion. You’ll decide on the curriculum, the required course grade, the method of providing feedback and the ability to control the look and feel of the certificates of completion.
Generally e-Learning is viewed as offering solutions to several challenges currently facing districts and their personnel. These include the move towards lifelong learning, with its ongoing demand for continuous professional development, the expense of coordinated on-site training and the drive to widen participation. These challenges come at a time of increasing pressure on resources, and the increasing diversity in the district population and their modes of attendance, including learning that is part-time, at a distance, open or flexible, and work based E-learning can improve the flexibility and quality of learning by:
- providing access to a range of resources and materials which may not otherwise be available or accessible; for example graphics, sound, animation, multimedia;
- giving control to personnel over when and where they study;
- allowing personnel to study at their own pace;
- creating an environment that promotes an active approach to learning;
- supporting increased communications between staff and external stakeholders;
- providing frequent and timely individual feedback, for example through computer assisted assessment, and positive reinforcement;
- motivating personnel through appropriate use of interactive courseware;
- supporting and encouraging collaborative learning;
- supporting economic reuse of high quality, expensive resources;
- encouraging personnel to take responsibility for their own learning.

About Virtual Emergency Services LLC
Our RESPONSEnet™ mapping database solution was designed by lifelong first responders who know what works during the stress, confusion and uncertainty that surrounds real incidents and emergencies – and how first responders and Crisis Management Team members can really use these tools in the field. Our solution has been chosen by a large number of clients as their Crisis Management Database solution under several Grant programs. Our Mapping Database team is currently working with districts in Michigan, Texas, Colorado, Arizona, Illinois, Virginia and California, representing over 3,500 buildings, as well as many other public and private organizations and first responder agencies.
Our solution is considered best-of-breed due to its provision, not only of site-specific emergency response data, but also of web-based incident tracking and reporting, emergency notifications, and superior project management.
RESPONSEnet™ is a scalable, modular, software database that enables first responders and client personnel to securely access via web, pre-determined tactical response plans and coordinate on-site Incident Command System activities to respond to emergency incidents including terrorist attacks, as well as natural disasters, fires, utility breaks and leaks, and hazardous material spills. The system allows police, fire, and other first responders to instantly access more than 325 data points for any structure, including tactical/emergency response plans, evacuation routes, satellite and oblique aerial imagery, exterior and interior photos, floor plans, utility shut-off locations, hazardous substance inventories, 360 degree virtual environments and more.
The REPORTER™ module provides the user the ability to track, report and verify “daily” incidents, training elements, and other emergency management events. The REPORTER module is a web-based incident reporting and notification module built specifically to empower clients to quickly document on-site activities. The solution allows clients and first responder agencies to effectively work together and document anything, anywhere, at any time. Clients also are empowered to notify groups, responders, and internal personnel with the NOTIFIER™ module. This tool allows for customized alerts (emergency, weather, newsletter etc.) to be created and sent to all users in seconds. This concept is called "unified messaging," because one message may be sent to multiple types of devices (computer email or mobile text messaging).
Clients also can use MOBILE NOTIFIER™ and MOBILE REPORTER™ (versions able to be accessed and utilized from a mobile phone device – e.g. Blackberry), which provides a secure interface to the NOTIFIER™ and REPORTER™ modules from which the user can send, modify and add new announcements as well as create, manage and update incident reports and checklists right from the mobile device instead of having to access a computer with internet accessibility.
The RESPONSEnet™ technology has been created with the input of Law Enforcement, Military, and Fire and Emergency planning professionals to specifically address the needs of first responders’ and on-site personnel.
